Disappointing. Wonderful set design and lighting use, but overly reliant on projection at the expense of live performers. Went in with high hopes, left feeling let down. The cast were great, but if you love the film and the story then would not reccomend as songs have been changed and the main focus of the story (I.e Moses and God) is lost behind family feel good and sudden character changes in order to achieve the feel good factor at the expense of overall plot. In Act 2 the focus shifts so much towards expanding B characters that the actual main plot feels very rushed and treated almost a hindrance to what they wanted to focus on instead. There also seemed to be reluctance to actually mention God at all (which seems odd given that its a biblical story) which lessens Moses character by tip toeing around the point that the film actually deals with far better. Overall went in with high hopes and excitement, left feeling that it was another victim of the box ticking family feel good shows rather than actually having a great story to tell. Cast were great, some clever use of ensemble but held back by poor scripting and reliance on projection.
